Norton or Not ?

That is my question to you. The expiration date is coming up on my Norton.
What do you think of Norton for Internet Security?
What do you use?I know some of you have Mac so you don't worry about this.
I have not had any problems with them so far.I know there are free ones out there but what is the best one?
If you don't care please let me know? Are if you know a computer geek, ask them for me.

When we used a free one we got a virus so you have to be careful. We went back to Norton. I forgot to tell you that earlier.

P.S I am glad that you and Bro. Stubby were able to come over and visit with us tonight. I am sorry we didn't have any coffee!! HA HA HA!!!

We are currently using ClamWin (free open-source software) on our PC here at home. I think its the most non-obtrusive free AV program out there as far as I know. It doesn't seem to slow/bog my PC down at any time during it's processing. One con about ClamWin is the lack of removal of virus' after one is detected. It will inform you of where the virus is located on your hard drive and leaves you to do the rest. Here is a link to ClamWin download page:

In my opinion though, the best anti-virus software out there really is just yourself or those who use the PC. Being careful with what types of emails you open (don't click that fishy link!), staying away from social websites like MySpace and NOT clicking Yes/No popup boxes (right click on the popup dialog box and click 'Close') will keep you very safe. I've ran my PCs without AV just to test it out and see how easy it is to get a virus and quite honestly it's very hard if you follow some of the below pointers.

At work we've used Kaspersky and Sophos for our near 100 computer network and I've found these two to be quite superior to Norton or MacAfee's software, so there are some options as well. I believe Kaspersky (Russian) and Sophos (British) cost around $50 per year.

I'm not sure if we have one or not. My hubby takes care of that. I know that when we used Panda it slowed our computer way down. I did not like it at all.

I couldn't tell you a thing about Anti-Virus software. Ralphie liked Norton is all I know.
